PEACEBUILDERS

Since 2014, NewGen Peacebuilders℠ programs have been delivered or are in development across multiple states in the US, as well as Argentina, Bolivia, Ethiopia, Lebanon, South Sudan and the Western Balkans. Presentations, dialogues and workshops have been delivered on four continents, independently, or in collaboration with other organizations and networks including the Alliance for Peacebuilding, Institute for Economics & Peace, and Rotary Positive Peace Activators.

Impact

More than 8,000 students, teachers, and community supporters completed a total of 70,000 hours of peace education and mentoring. Students have designed and initiated 100 peace projects and there are 2,250 certified young peacebuilders. And 1,000 toolkits to support teachers have been distributed.

Benefits

Participants who complete workshops and implement a team peace project receive NewGen Peacebuilders certification. Alumni become part of a global network of young peacebuilders with access to academic and career opportunities. Many have received local, national and international awards, recognition and scholarships.

NewGen Peacebuilders trainings have been conducted around the world. Here are just a few examples:

  • Juba, South Sudan

A NewGen Peacebuilders mini-pilot with Interactors and Rotaractors in South Sudan paved the way for a training for nearly 150 participants in 2023.

  • Houston, Texas

Nearly 200 young people from 32 secondary schools in Greater Houston completed a two-day “Turn Empathy Into Action” youth peace conference. A multi-week training with secondary schools followed.

  • Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

A Global Grant made possible two years of NewGen Peacebuilders programs in Argentina that trained nearly 200 NewGen Peacebuilders.
